Le 20 mai dernier, les élèves de 5e secondaire de l’École Jean-Jacques-Bertrand à Farnham, en Montérégie, ont été les premiers à passer à l’action dans le cadre du projet ClimAction – des jeunes, des rivières, des communautés.
Fidèles à leur engagement environnemental, ils ont réalisé une plantation d’arbres dans un secteur en friche derrière l’école, mené une collecte de déchets le long du ruisseau Plamondon, et assuré le suivi de la zone sans tonte mise en place l’année précédente. Les arbres, offerts par les municipalités et paroisses environnantes, témoignent d’une belle collaboration qui s’est tissée au fil des années entre l’OBV Yamaska, l’école, le centre de services scolaire et les partenaires municipaux.
Avec une troisième participation consécutive à ClimAction, aucun doute : le ruisseau, la cour d’école et tout le secteur s’épanouissent grâce à l’implication des jeunes !
On May 20, Grade 11 students from École Jean-Jacques-Bertrand in Farnham, Montérégie, were the first to take action this year as part of the ClimAction – Youth, Rivers, Communities project.
Staying true to their environmental commitment, they planted trees in a vacant lot behind the school, collected litter along Plamondon Creek, and monitored the no-mow zone established the previous year. The trees, donated by local municipalities and parishes, reflect the strong collaboration developed over the years between OBV Yamaska, the school, the school service center, and municipal partners.
Now in their third consecutive year of participating in ClimAction, it’s clear: the creek, the schoolyard, and the surrounding area are thriving thanks to the students’ involvement!
