Youth and the community: working for water

Take part in monitoring, observing and conserving aquatic ecosystems using simple scientific equipment and a healthy dose of fun! You’ll learn how to determine a river’s overall health by observing its characteristics.

The school version of the program (for students 9 to 18 years old) includes in-class activities, one or two trips into the field, carrying out an environmental action, and writing a report directly into a Web interface. The version of the program adapted for protected natural areas includes a “citizen science” component and one designed specifically for park visitors.

    A program of excellence

Adopt a River has won many prestigious awards in environment and environmental education.

Offered Canada-wide, the program stands out for its exceptional guidance of participating groups, the expertise of the professionals involved, and the excellence of its teaching and scientific materials.
